Blickfang/ Blickfänger
The performance navigates between the presence of the poem „Sphinx hinter Gittern“ (Sphinx behind bars) by Anne Duden, the interventions of Donna Maya with her theremin and electronic sound compositions, interwoven with speech samples, and Anja Weber´s choreographic oscillation between spaces and times.
Premieres during the drei D poesie festival, 14.10.2017 at Uferstudios Berlin.
Hear We Are!
The multi-channel composition “Hear We Are!” by Donna Maya honors the work of women* in electronic music. It is based on short personal insights by members of the international network female:pressure about their artistic intentions. Donna Maya connected them to a dialog that became more and more interactive between the speakers. The testimonies where especially recorded for this composition. They became a sonic statement of inspirational output to work against ignorance and historical oblivion by pointing on female:pressure and their public accessible database that impressively proves how many female* artists there are.
With statements by female:pressure members: Abelha Supersónica, AGF, akka.miau, Caro C, Death Of Codes, Jaquie E., Taura, LIS, Nima D, Ratel C, She´s Excited, Small Souki, Vero Yagé and Waterflower http://www.femalepressure.net

From Donna Maya’s Theremin Diary, entry: 28.05.2021:
Buried, Hidden, in the dark, There lies a treasure. In the chamber, sparkling in a box. Full of coins? Gold? Or old rags?
My treasure is not affordable, not with any money in the world. And even if it is not adequately valued by politicians at the moment, culture is the most important community achievement we have. But if culture continues to die, we will lose a lot. Diversity will disappear from the niche into nowhere. Whether museums or cinemas, clubs or concert venues. The lights are going out here right now. I beg your indulgence that it is difficult for me to write cheerful music with this prospect.

From Donna Maya’s Theremin Diary, entry: 20.05.2020:
Weeks are passing by….all venues are still closed…festivals all canceld, nothing is going on. My tour bookings vanished in nowhere, like everything else this summer. Can´t meet my friends, my family, except online. The world outside is covered, facial expressions are masked. Small talk while shopping, without a visible smile, emotionless, like exchanging words between robots. My thoughts are circling around strange times- musically noted in my Theremin diary.
